Your grade will be based on the better of a curved grade and an absolute grade. Since I made MT3 too hard, I decided to lower the absolute scale by 5% relative to the first scale. I also put together a more generous curve, which is more typical of that used in ECE120. The new grading scales are based on the first eleven discussions, the first ten homeworks, the first four labs, and the first three midterms (a total of 65% of the final grade).

The curve includes only A's and B's (40% A's, and 40% B's), and the numbers are based on the number of people in the class (78).

grade # students (cumulative) points
  A 20 (20) 85
  A- 11 (31) 80
  B+ 8 (39) 75
  B 16 (55) 70
  B- 8 (63) 65
  C+ 60
  C 55
  C- 50
  D+ 45
  D 40
  D- 35

Interpret the table as follows: the top 16 students will get A's, as will anyone getting 90+ of the 100 possible total points. The top 24 will get A- or better, as will anyone getting 85+ of the total, etc.

You're still nearly all on the absolute scale. Relative to the last grade estimate, more than half of the class has exactly the same estimate. Of the remaining students, half went up, and half went down. As of now, I estimate 40% As and 47% Bs.

You can find your estimated grade in Blackboard.

The previous scales are still available, if you want to see them.
